LAPIX has developed a license plate recognition (LPR) tool. This system takes as input a picture of a vehicle, locates the license plate in it, extracts all the characters and recognizes them. The system can be used, for example, to automate operations that control the flow of cars, as in a parking lot.
The software analyzes the image in order to determine where the license plate is.
Once it found the plate, the letters are extracted.
After letters have been extracted and cleaned up, characters are recognized.
